Applying the ResFinder and VirulenceFinder web-services for easy identification of acquired antibiotic resistance and E. coli virulence genes in bacteriophage and prophage nucleotide sequences

摘要: Extensive research is currently being conducted on the use of bacteriophages for applications in human medicine, agriculture and food manufacturing. However, phages are important vehicles horisontal gene transfer play a significant role bacterial evolution. As result, concern has been raised that this increased dissemination could result spread deleterious genes, e.g., antibiotic resistance virulence genes. Meanwhile, wake genomic era, several tools have developed characterization genomes. Here we describe how two these tools, ResFinder VirulenceFinder, can be used to identify acquired genes phage genomes interest. The general applicability demonstrated data sets 1,642 1,442 predicted prophages.
