摘要: ABSTRACT A population-based survey of invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD) was conducted among adults in North-Rhine Westphalia, Germany. The study included 202 the 386 hospitals region, together with 27 microbiological laboratories that submitted reports IPD these to National Reference Centre for Streptococci. 16 were comprehensively reviewed. Most (95.8%) isolates susceptible penicillin G, but 14.5% resistant clarithromycin. Serotypes 14 (15.6%), 3 (9.3%), 4 (7.1%) and 7F (7.9%) most common. serotype coverage 23-valent polysaccharide vaccine 80.8%. During 2001–2003, annual incidence IPD, after correcting laboratory hospital under-reporting, 16.2/100 000 individuals aged >65 years. In three university hospitals, blood cultures obtained only 37% patients community-acquired pneumonia, fewer than one-third such one before antibiotics prescribed, suggesting true closer 50/100 000.
