摘要: Armed saltbush [A tripkx acanthocarpa (Torr.) Wats.] and fourwing [A. canescens (Pursh) Nutt.] are browsed by livestock white-tailed deer (OdocoUeus virginianus Raf.). The objective of this study was to compare the chemical composition these 2 shrubs growing together in south Texas. Leaves stems from outer 5 cm current year's growth each species were randomly collected stands November 1985 February, May, August 1986. Samples analyzed for crude protein (CP), calcium, potassium (K), magnesium (Mg), sodium (Na), phosphorus (P), vitro organic matter digestibility (IVOMD). Height standing crop also determined. Crude armed leaves ranged 32% February 19%o August. Fourwing leaf CP 24% 12% generally had greater P concentrations than saltbush. Calcium, K, Mg IVOMD similar. lower Na Laboratorydetermined values suggest that both may provide nutritious browse cattle on saline rangeland.
