摘要: This study modeled the urban growth in Greater Cairo Region (GCR), one of fastest growing mega cities world, using remote sensing data and ancillary data. Three land use cover (LULC) maps (1984, 2003 2014) were produced from satellite images by Support Vector Machines (SVM). Then, changes detected applying a high level mapping technique that combines binary (change/no-change) post classification comparison technique. The spatial temporal patterns analyzed selected statistical metrics developed FRAGSTATS software. Major transitions to predict future scenarios for year 2025 Land Change Modeler (LCM) embedded IDRISI model results, after validation, indicated 14% vegetation 4% desert 2014 will be urbanized 2025. areas within 5-km buffer around: Great Pyramids, Islamic Al-Baron Palace calculated, highlighting an intense urbanization especially around Pyramids; 28% up 40% Knowing current estimated situation GCR help decision makers adjust develop new plans achieve sustainable development protect historical locations.
