摘要: Purpose To assess the presence of mitomycin-C (MMC) in hen aqueous humor after photorefractive keratectomy (PRK). Setting Instituto Universitario de Oftalmobiologia Aplicada, Faculty Medicine, University Valladolid, and Department Analytical Chemistry, Sciences, Spain. Methods Mitomycin-C 0.02% was applied topically for 2 minutes to a right hen's eye PRK (Group A) left with intact epithelium B). At different time points (10, 30, 60, 360, 720 minutes), extracted high-performance liquid chromatography performed detect quantify MMC levels. Results The mean maximum drug concentration measured 187.250 μg/L ± 4.349 (SD) Group A 93.000 4.899 B, both detected 10 topical application. Statistically significant differences were found between Groups B at 10, 60 minutes, decreasing levels groups but higher A. After 360 undetectable Conclusions detectable application PRK-treated eyes epithelium. is concern as it may lead ocular toxicity long term.
