Speed Optimization of a MPEG-4 Software Decoder Based on ARM Family Cores

摘要: MPEG-4 visual simple profile is a widely used video compression standard for mobile solutions. In general, decoder requires high computation power its complex algorithms. It's difficult to implement on hand-held devices directly. this paper, we proposed novel color space transform algorithm and optimized the memory access operations. Moreover, multiperless integer IDCT adopted further speed up decoder. Our optimization based ARM7TDMI ARM920T, which are very desirable cores solutions low consumption. Experimental results show that acts about 5 times faster than existing XVID with small quality degradation supports real-time applications.
