摘要: In September 1983, an epizootic of unknown cause broke out among the mountain hares on island Stora Karlso, which is located outside coast Gotland. One hare was sent in National Veterinary Institute for post-mortem examination. The showed lesions liver, spleen, and bone-marrow typical tularemia. specimens were positive Francisella tularensis with fluorescent-antibody test. Tularemia has not been observed earlier this part Sweden. It supposed that disease might have spread to Karlso migrating birds from Finland, where there tularemia during summer 1983.
