摘要: There is a broad international discussion about rethinking engineering education in order to educate engineers cope with future challenges, and particularly the sustainable development goals. In this context, there consensus need shift from mostly technical paradigm more holistic problem-based approach, which can address social embeddedness of technology society. Among strategies suggested embeddedness, design thinking has been proposed as an essential complement precisely for purpose. This chapter describes requirements integrating approach education. We exemplify challenges by presenting our based on course experiences at RWTH Aachen University. The first curricula, how we combine it Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) well role sustainability responsibility engineering. Secondly, present “Expanding Engineering Limits: Culture, Diversity, Gender” describe necessity theoretically embed method cultural giving students opportunity reflect cultural, national, or individual “engineering limits,” be able overcome them using next step collaborative project work. paper will suggest that successful implementation needs framed contextualized within Science Technology Studies (STS).
