Observation of the static nuclear magnetism of pure metallic copper in low magnetic fields

摘要: Using a specially designed mixing chamber for dilution refrigerator and magnetometer employing superconducting device we have compared, over the temperature range 12 to 100 m°K, static temperature-dependent moment of sample pure copper (resistance ratio 31,500) in field 5.8 G with 17 Hz susceptibility powdered cerium magnesium nitrate (CMN). cross-calibrational information from experiments on Cu(Mn) alloys deduce that within accuracy measurement observed magnetic can be ascribed nuclear magnetism only, calculated Curie constant 4.5×10−8°K. The are not sufficiently precise shed new light CMN scale, but disagreement our earlier conclusions. A remarkable unexplained electronic Curie-law background magnetization is empty magnetometer.
