摘要: This paper examines urban waterfront rehabilitation as a sustainable development strategy in Chinese cities. Though is increasingly being employed developed world cities, the environmental benefits are not always clear. Nonetheless, China, like other developing countries, has shown interest this strategy, for improving its local water quality, upgrading management, and quality of life residents. As cities struggle to break from traditional model 'pollute first, clean up later', it critical that they employ strategies which minimize or remediate impacts while still promoting economic development. analyzes three such projects: Qinhuai River Environmental Improvement Project Nanjing, Suzhou Creek Rehabilitation Shanghai, Wuli Lake Wuxi. A analysis indicates these projects have served numerous purposes contribute cities' waterways may be restored pristine conditions, incremental improvements appear necessary catalyst
