Nutrition screening tools: Does one size fit all? A systematic review of screening tools for the hospital setting

摘要: Summary Background & aims Numerous nutrition screening tools for the hospital setting have been developed. The aim of this systematic review is to study construct or criterion validity and predictive general setting. Methods A English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese Dutch articles identified via MEDLINE, Cinahl EMBASE (from inception 2nd February 2012). Additional studies were by checking reference lists manuscripts. Search terms included key words malnutrition, assessment instruments, adults. Data extracted independently 2 authors. Only expressing (construct, predictive) a tool included. Results 83 (32 tools) identified: 42 on versus method 51 outcome (i.e. length stay, mortality complications). None performed consistently well establish patients' nutritional status. For elderly, MNA fair good, adults MUST good. SGA, NRS-2002 in predicting approximately half reviewed adults, but not older patients. Conclusions Not one single capable adequate as poor related outcome. Development new seems redundant will most probably lead insights. New comparing different within patient population are required.
