摘要: In recent years, ultrasonic assessment of the locomotory system has become established both as a screening method in patients with chronic disorders and for evaluating acute injuries. Thanks to technical improvements equipment (use high-frequency probes up 20 MHz), ever smaller structures can be visualized. Ultrasonography carried out immediately following clinical- possibly radiological-assessment, by one same investigator, requires little extra time. A bilateral examination particular permits good evaluation extent an injury and, appropriate experience good-quality equipment, accurate anatomical topography. should now used primary imaging diagnosis injuries parts system, thus helping minimize number expensive, more invasive, diagnostic procedures: muscles tendons, peri-articular soft tissue (in shoulder, knee elbow joints), detection intra-articular effusions, collections fluid where applicable, ultrasonically guided puncture. numerous other problems, too (postoperative complications, foreign bodies, fractures, osteomyelitis, inflammation, etc.), ultrasound deliver first information. this way, expensive techniques reserved special cases only, reducing costs. Furthermore, adjunctive method, ultrasonography reduce follow-up X-rays case AC joint, shoulder dislocations, Hill-Sachs lesions, fractures children, again radiation exposure overall
