摘要: The concentration of poverty and adverse environmental circumstances within slums, particularly those in the cities developing countries, are an increasingly important concern for both public health policy initiatives related programs other sectors. However, there is a dearth information on population-level implications slum life human health. This manuscript describes 2005 Census Mapping Slums (CMS), which used geographic systems (GIS) tools digital satellite imagery combined with more traditional fieldwork methodologies, to obtain detailed, up-to-date new about all slums six major Bangladesh (including Dhaka). CMS found that Bangladeshi very diverse: wide intra- inter-city variations population size, density, percent urban populations living sanitation conditions. Findings also show common beliefs may be outdated; note, tenure insecurity was issue only small minority slums. methodology provides useful approach mapping could applied areas low income societies. become analytic tool inform policy, as countries forecasted continue increasing their share total global coming years, than doubling size during same period.
