Retrospective evaluation of urinary tract infection in 42 dogs with hyperadrenocorticism or diabetes mellitus or both.

摘要: A retrospective study was performed to determine the proportion of dogs with hyperadrenocorticism or diabetes mellitus both that had urinary tract infection (UTI) and describe clinical laboratory findings. Dogs these endocrine disorders were included if results quantitative urine culture available not receiving antimicrobials. positive cultures considered have UTI negative used as controls. Information including history, signs, physical examination findings, tests extracted from all records. Findings in compared control dogs. There 101 met inclusion criteria; 42 (41.6%) 59 (58.4%) did not. present 46% hyperadrenocorticism, 37% mellitus, 50% disorders. no association between group occurrence UTI. Escherichia coli most common bacteria isolated, 29 (69%) showed growth this organism. Of UTI, <5% stranguria, pollakiuria, discolored urine, whereas 60% pyuria 69% bacteriuria. We conclude UTIs are diseases. Clinical signs however, uncommon urinalysis may be normal. Therefore, it is appropriate recommend part evaluation
