摘要: The introduction of vaccination against Haemophilus influenzae serotype b (Hib) in the Swedish childhood programme 1992 resulted a rapid 90% decline meningitis cases. A recent rise incidence UK underlines need for continuing surveillance also Sweden. Descriptive analysis data all invasive Hib infection cases notified 1997-2003 was performed, with respect to age, gender, seasonality, geography and death; 185 (children 0-4 y: 37 cases) disease were reported an average rate 0.3 per 100,000 y; 1.1). One fifth children below 5 y but two- thirds over 30 median age 49.5 age. 61% female 39% male (p = 0.0026). sharp downward trend seen period 1993-1998 appears have halted. During 2002 2003 there slight increase aged y. There highly significant dominance, which has not been described before. Together shift distribution towards adults this points women +30 as potential new risk group. This may reflect increased owing being primary carers young children.
