摘要: BACKGROUND: Hepatitis C virus (HCV) RNA was measured in immune globulins and its chemical physical properties were characterized. STUDY DESIGN AND METHODS: The study examined 69 globulin lots from 7 manufacturers, including 44 intravenous 25 intramuscular preparations. In addition, 8 experimental preparations investigated. Detection quantitation of HCV achieved by reverse transcription nested polymerase chain reaction at limiting dilution. A multi-antigen anti-HCV enzyme immunoassay also used to test these globulins. RESULTS: highest level found an lot derived a plasma pool made up 186 anti-c100-3-reactive units. detected only 1 manufacturers' 2887 anti-c100-3-negative It commercial prepared the same manufacturer source plasma, but not recovered plasma. More than half lots, specific products, positive. All products reactive for anti- HCV. Certain similarities present product Ethanol 20 or percent had no effect upon buoyant density RNA. CONCLUSION: Many contained RNA, with levels depending both type starting manufacturing process. Exposure ethanol did appear affect characteristics RNA.
