Physical activity of Estonian family doctors and their counselling for a healthy lifestyle: a cross-sectional study.

摘要: Physical activity offers major health benefits and counselling for it should be integrated into the medical consultation. Based on literature, personal behaviour of physician (including physical activity) is associated with his/her approach to patients. Our hypothesis that family doctors (FD) in Estonia are physically active their recommendation counsel patients chronic diseases use high. The study was also interested how FDs value among other important determinants a healthy lifestyle, e.g. nutrition, non-consumption alcohol, non-smoking. Physicians electronic list were contacted by e-mail sent questionnaire. first part assessed International Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) short form. Self-reported during one week calculated as total minutes per (MET min/week). second questionnaire included questions about disease concerning lifestyle. focused female because 95% women avoid bias related gender. 198 completed 92% reported they exercised over past 7 days moderate or high level activity. Analysis revealed no statistically significant relationship between general characteristics (age, living area, body mass index [BMI], time spent sitting). heart problems, diabetes, obesity seek advice more often than depression. Over 94% claimed exercising. According FDs' reports, most topic lifestyle This showed active. not age, BMI, sitting. Also, promotion everyday work.
