摘要: Poisoned patients were first treated with charcoal more than 150 years ago. Despite its almost universal acceptance today, activated charcoal's role has been overshadowed by the emphasis on treating poisoned gastric emptying. We review current use of and recent studies that suggest may be single most effective treatment in many types poisoning. New explanations for mechanisms action include "back diffusion" disruption enterohepatic loops. Clinical data endorse a new aggressive management overdosed patients.
