摘要: Several genes have identified that play a role in colon cancer development. However, less is known about factors increase the rate of progression cancers to metastasis. One candidate transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF 1), which can enhance aggressiveness human colorectal cell lines vitro and vivo. The amount TGF 1, 2, 3 protein isoforms expressed primary site were measured determine whether any correlation existed between levels disease recurrence series Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital patients who underwent potentially curative resections. Intense staining for correlated significantly (P < 0.0013; odds ratio, 18) with metastasis was independent nodal status degree differentiation tumor. Therefore, this study, high their 18 times more likely experience than whose tumors exhibited low 1. In case-control recurred those remaining free age sex matched. at mean 26.8 +/- 4.3 (SE) months, whereas follow-up time did not recur over twice as long, 57.3 6.6 months. Ninety-four % each group node positive resection, equal numbers nodes per patient.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)
