摘要: Abstract Although there has been much recent interest in the application of lasers to arterial occlusive disease, a detailed understanding effects laser energy on vessel walls is lacking. This study compared effect conventional, non-contact delivery system Nd:YAG contact using 600 μm, artificial sapphire tip eight mongrel dogs. A small section luminal surface carotid and femoral arteries was exposed 10 or 15 joules power flow restored vessel. The animals were sacrificed at 0, 1, 2, 4, 7, 14, 21, 30 days vessels removed. area injury for each artery quantitated by computerized planimetry all histologic sections examined under light microscopy an independent observer. Transmural necrosis occurred 64% ( 20 31 ) lesions versus only 29% 9 (P
