Abstract A single crystal surface covered with 5A was used as a model supported catalyst to study effects of strong interaction(SMSI) on chemisorption and the hydrogenation reaction. Auger C Is peak height measurements showed that is suppressed by 2.5 times compared In situ studies o specific methanation activity from ∼3.0–3.5 (111). No H /D isotope effect found for methane production both Ni(111) (100), while higher molecular weight product formation an (100). explanation proposed account SMSI effects.
