摘要: Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most aggressive and lethal primary brain tumor in adults. Despite significant advances surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, prognosis for patients with GBM remains dismal, clinical outcome varies markedly between patients. To formulate appropriate treatment strategy, accurate prognostic markers are needed to predict survival individual The glucose transporter GLUT-1 has emerged as a novel factor given its association poorer response therapy many different cancers. This chapter explores role may play angiogenesis, proliferation, tumorigenesis. We review molecular biology physiologic function of GLUT family transporters. also explore these proteins have blood–brain barrier how regulated at transcriptional post-transcriptional level. place special emphasis on hypoxia glioma tumorigenesis, resistance therapy, regulation. marker discussed. Finally, potential strategies targeting malignant explored. appears deserves further study determine exploiting this therapeutic measures gliomas.
