摘要: Microartifacts—generally considered to be artifacts smaller than 6.35 mm (1/4 inch)—have traditionally received little attention in archaeology. This oversight is due part the tedious nature of sample processing and quantification, but also because they are generally assumed duplicate same information contained macroartifacts. However, recent studies demonstrate that microartifacts not simply versions larger artifacts, rather provide a different complementary dataset. The goals this thematic volume on threefold: (1) highlight case application current microartifact research southeastern archaeology; (2) examine future research, particularly with regard new technologies experimental approaches; (3) important role archaeology can play serving as model for more widespread use analyses American archaeological studies.
