Molluscicidal effect of biogenic silica and botanical pesticides for the control of Achatina fulica (giant African land snail) and Laevicaulis alte (garden slug)

摘要: The molluscicidal effect of silica synthesized from rice husk ash (RHA) on snails (Achatina fulica Bowdich) and slugs (Laevicaulis alte Ferussac) was assessed under laboratory conditions. particles derived RHA were also coated with leaf extracts (botanical pesticides): Azadirachta indica A. Juss, Pongamia pinnata (L.), Nicotiana tabacum Calotropis procera (L.). plant the uncoated applied to molluscs in dust or slurry form. Inactivation, mortality, body fluid loss L. observed over 24 h recorded. losses 25%–42% for 37%–62% that had been dusted silica. During experiment it noted as concentration increased (0.15, 0.20, 0.25 g), time required inactivation mortality reduced. application more effective than slurry. lower (0.05 0.10 g) did not have any significant alte. For biopesticide-coated when neem, followed by tobacco karanj; alte, most tobacco, neem karanj. extract (liquid well dry powder) without showed no except some temporary inactivation, particularly extract. common salt, a practice often used farmers, tested. It effects salt less those botanical pesticides.
