Afforested farmland vs. forestland: Effects of bark stripping by Cervus elaphus and climate on production potential and structure of Picea abies forests.

摘要: The aim of this study was to evaluate (1) effects bark stripping and climatic factors on radial growth Picea abies /L./ Karst., (2) production structural differences between stands established the forestland abandoned farmland (afforested farmland-henceforth, farmland), (3) interaction among losses caused by ungulate damages, production, diversity, soil types. Data acquired from four permanent research plots (PRPs) located eight PRPs were used. A number tree- stand-level models, stand indices, tree-rings, climate characteristics analysed hypotheses. results show significantly higher means DBH, tree height basal area compared those farmland. There a larger mean standing stem volume (466 m3 ha-1) (770 ha-1). Significant difference observed DBH healthy trees with substantial damage (girth >1/3 circumference). greater extent girth found 86% farmland, while 54% forestland. About 62% bark-strip further deteriorated rot infection such an only for 39% trees. precipitation positively affected that largely damages
