摘要: Despite advances in pharmacologic options for the management of surgical pain, there appears to have been little or no overall improvement over last two decades level pain experienced by patients. The importance adequate and effective management, however, is clear, because inadequate control 1) has a wide range undesirable physiologic immunologic effects; 2) associated with poor outcomes; 3) increased probability readmission; 4) adversely affects cost care as well patient satisfaction. There clear unmet need national consensus task force raise awareness develop best practice guidelines improving safety, satisfaction, rapid postsurgical recovery, health economic outcomes. To comprehensively address this need, multidisciplinary Surgical Pain Congress™ established. inaugural meeting Congress (March 8 10, 2013, Celebration, Florida) evaluated current paradigm identified key components practices.
