摘要: The behaviour of planktonic animals remains poorly understood due to the difficulty observing them in situ without influencing their behaviour. Here we review experiments on behavioural responses Northern krill, Meganyctiphanes norvegica (and related organisms), isolation laboratory-based aquaria. value this approach lies close observation that is possible; downside uncertainty as how well observed relates natural subject animal. We discuss studies swimming and swarming, krill light. consider techniques involving automatic recordings avoid, some extent, making subjective decisions effects such a gregarious animal exposure unnaturally high light levels are also considered. conclude can be great long these limiting factors addressed.
