摘要: Abstract The purpose of the study was to compare voice onset times (VOTs) produced by men and women in isolated syllable utterances. Forty male 40 female speakers English repeated a series CV syllables five each. were comprised plosives /p/, /t/, /k/, /b/, /d/, /g/ combination with vowels /ɑ/, /i/, /u/. VOTs measured from middle three each using sound spectrogram oscillogram displays on computer. No significant differences occurred between women. Significant VOT across vowels, before /ɑ/ having shorter than those /i/ or In addition, varied place production longer for alveolar velar bilabial ones. findings indicated that speaker's sex not factor associated variability.
