Short communication. Assessing lodging resistance in rice: a comparison of two indirect testing methods.

摘要: Rice lodging is still a problem in many countries, as all rice-growing countries have some varieties that get lodged. Direct evaluation of resistance requires visual estimates plots, but not feasible early generations breeding programs, where genetic variability too high. The aim this study was to compare two methods for indirect resistance, especially field conditions: the recovery ability after bending (measured tiller angle difference before and bending); and, test sturdiness lower part plant, we measured its pulling.
