Utilising Metal Melts of Low-Melting Metals as a Novel Approach for MOF Synthesis: The 3D-Imidazolate 3∞[Ga2(Im)6ImH] from Gallium and Imidazole

摘要: Metals with low melting points like gallium (mp. 30 °C) prove a new approach for the synthesis of MOFs. As point is even lower than linker ligand imidazole, formation MOF 3∞[Ga2(Im)6ImH], Im-= imidazolate anion, ImH = can be achieved by reaction melt referring metal ligand. Gallium oxidized in reaction, and hydrogen gas amide as colourless single crystalline product are formed. At imidazole 88-90 two liquid phases observed. Phase separation lasts until starting at 120 °C, consumes reagents. We consider this on phase border between no mixing 3∞[Ga2(Im)6ImH] constitutes three-dimensional framework structure 3,6 topology that built Kagome nets sharing common connec-tivity points. Each Ga3+ ion octahedrally coordinated six nitrogen atoms ligands. The exhibits limited porosity 8.5 % accessible space diameter 376 - 509 pm pore windows.
