A Metal–Organic Framework with a Hierarchical System of Pores and Tetrahedral Building Blocks

摘要: Hierarchical chemical structures that incorporate some of the complexity typical biological assemblies now exist and are being developed for use as highly selective catalysts, sensors, ion- drug-transport materials. Generally, such synthetic systems based on supramolecular structures, which it is possible to design step-by-step reactions progressively lead complex architectures discrete molecular components. [1] In contrast, stepwise synthesis analogous extended (nonmolecular) networks not feasible, because intermediates insoluble. Herein, we present MOF-500, a new metal–organic framework (MOF), illustrate how “one-pot” reaction can yield crystalline solid with four distinct levels (defined by structural elements increasing size, compositions, pores). Prior knowledge conditions porous tetrahedral level-3 building blocks MOF-500 (Figure 1) obviates need multistep synthesis. [2] We highlight remarkable similarities between structure network its (IRMOP-51). Furthermore, demonstrate concomitant fourfold increase in gas uptake surface area occurs going from crystals IRMOP-51 those MOF-500. Figure 1 outlines conceptual practical aspects
