摘要: In this chapter we introduce the basic concepts and terms that will be used throughout book. particular provide a brief overview of statistical shape analysis geometric morphometric techniques, focussing on landmark semilandmark-based representations shapes.Shape is described as property an object invariant under rotation, scale, or translation. Morphometric new promising branch statistics integrates knowledge from mathematics, geometry, biometrics, computer science, modern engineering (essential especially for complicated three-dimensional object) to study size objects, along with their covariations other variables. context considered whole, align interdependence its parts conclusions are drawn conditions uncertainty. Geometric morphometrics more recent area that, by means tools, analyzes information focusing exactly where points organism located respect each other. To illustrate how landmarks semilandmarks chosen then classified in real applications, propose two case studies.
