摘要: Abstract In-Vehicle Data Recorders (IVDRs) encompass a broad range of technologies that record information about the movement, control, and performance vehicle during normal driving situations have emerged as an objective valid way to monitor, research, influence driver behaviour well prevent crashes. However, little is known likely intentions install this technology among those who may benefit most from it, young novice drivers (17–19 year olds). The current research (a) assessed extent which favour using IVDR technology, (b) identified personal characteristics social cognitive processes underpin their technology. drew on past into correlates crash involvement, models such Theory Planned Behaviour (TPB), propose test predictive model IVDR. Following initial focus group phase, 424 (220 males; age: M = 18.25, SD = 0.73) completed anonymous online questionnaire measuring study variables. Results suggested are uncommitted installing IVDRs in cars, perceive weak, negative pressure against installation A regression explained 55% variance IVDR, with all three TPB variables, plus fear adverse consequence not installing, significant predictors. Concern privacy was shown be major barrier taking advantage results provide insight important beliefs attitudes towards can used inform policy regarding under-researched but plausible road safety initiative.
