摘要: Rickettsia africae, a spotted fever group rickettsia, is the causative agent of African tick bite fever, transmitted by hard ticks Amblyomma genus [1]. Whereas hebraeum, found in large ruminants and wildlife species, most common vector R. africae southern Africa, epidemiological evidence indicates that variegatum predominant for rest sub-Saharan theWest Indies has also been detected lepidum from Sudan Djibouti [2]. The rates infection endemic area are typically high, may reach 100% [3]. Cattle, wild game other ungulates constitute principal hosts vectors, although larvae nymphs parasitize birds rodents. These known to readily humans. In 1991, Kelly Mason demonstrated A. hebraeum collected Zimbabwe naturally infected were capable maintaining rickettsia through trans-stadial transovarial transmission over two generations [4]. objective this work was establish laboratory colonies examine vertical ticks.
