摘要: The effects of the spatial scale on results optimisation transmission and generation capacity in Europe are quantified under a 95% CO2 reduction compared to 1990 levels, interpolating between one-node-per-country solutions many-nodes-per-country. trade-offs that come with higher detail better exposure bottlenecks, exploitation sites good renewable resources (particularly wind power) computational limitations discussed. It is shown no grid expansion beyond today's capacities only around 20% more expensive than cost-optimal expansion.
