摘要: Cell proliferation, an important mechanism of atherosclerotic plaque growth, occurs among smooth muscle, inflammatory cell, and other cell types. We have identified different topographical patterns proliferation in human carotid plaques, based on type. was determined with antibody to the proliferating nuclear antigen (PCNA), combined type-specific antibodies. Despite low levels overall proliferative activity, intima displayed more activity than underlying media (1.61 +/- 0.35% versus 0.05 0.03% media; P < 0.01). The preponderant type monocyte/macrophage (46.0% PCNA-positive cells), a minority being muscle alpha-actin-positive (9.7%), microvascular endothelial (14.3%), T cells (13.1%). Smooth were dominant (44.4% 20% cells, 13.0% monocyte/macrophages, 14.3% cells). Within plaque, foam-cell-rich regions mostly macrophages (66.5%), whereas vascularized fields PCNA positivity almost equally shared by (23.8%), monocyte/macrophages (26.3%), (14.0%), lesser extent, (8.2%). Logistic linear regression analyses also demonstrated that location significant predictor only good both noninflammatory cells. These suggest possibly distributions putative responsible growth regulatory factors atherosclerosis.
