摘要: In the present work we show that acute infection of C3H mice with CL strain Trypanosoma cruzi is characterized by an exponential growth parasites and high mortality accompanied anemia, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, bone marrow hypoplasia. Administration nifurtimox, a trypanocydal drug currently in clinical use at different days postinfection, modulates parasitemia prevents mortality. More importantly, none blood alterations were observed nifurtimox-treated animals when treatment was initiated early infection, one or seven postinoculation. The decrease total number cells as well megakaryoblasts erythroblasts. Transfer experiments from infected to noninfected lethally irradiated recipients revealed poor marrow-repopulating activity. colony forming units-spleen assay confirmed depression committed clonal progenitors decreased granulocyte/macrophage, megacariocyte erythrocyte colonies. summary, this first report showing T. results profound hematopoietic system these can be prevented nifurtimox treatment.
