摘要: To understand how economic downturns affect children’s development, scholars have concentrated on parents’ loss of a job affects well-being, but largely ignored the potential effects children whose parents remain employed. In this article, we review research across disciplines to demonstrate that should be conceptualized as community-level event all in community, not just those lost jobs. We focus three mechanisms linking developmental outcomes: structural changes communities, and psychological individuals who are continuously employed, strain social networks. conclude by discussing ongoing looking at implications for public policy.
