Overstretched and unreciprocated commitment: reviewing research on the occupational health and safety effects of downsizing and job insecurity

摘要: Over the past two decades, a leading business practice has been often-repeated rounds of downsizing and restructuring (also referred to as reorganization, re-engineering, host other euphemistic terms) by large private public sector employers. Frequently associated with practices such outsourcing, privatization, increased use temporary workers, downsizing/restructuring level job insecurity among workers well changes in work processes (including intensification multi-tasking) management behavior. How affected occupational health, safety, well-being what measures have employers, unions, governments taken address any adverse effects? The authors reviewed international studies health safety (OHS) effects undertaken over 20 years. After imposing quality filters, they obtained 86 studies. Analysis revealed that 73 (85%) found poorer OHS outcomes (using range measures). Studies were examined see whether provided clues reasons for negative outcomes.
