摘要: Depending on their size and morphology, anthozoan polyps colonies may be diffusion-limited in oxygen consumption, even under well-stirred, air-saturated conditions. This is indicated by an enhancement of consumption steady-state hyperoxic conditions that simulate the levels O2 produced photosynthetically zooxanthellae hosts' tissues. Such hyperoxia tissues zooxanthellate species negates effect diffusive boundary layer, increases rate consumption; thus, many cases, respiration measured normoxia dark not representative during day when are photosynthesizing supply for themselves, from environment. These results have implications respirometric methodology calculating gross photosynthesis energetic studies. The activity cytochrome c oxidase higher aposymbiotic than specimens sea anemone Aiptasia pulchella, this indicate a compensation relative hypoxia former, enhancing delivery to mitochondria
