Credit and Ethnic Consumption Inequality in the Central Highlands of Vietnam

摘要: Credit is commonly considered an important instrument to relieve financial capital constraints of poor households and subsequently improve their welfare. However, the empirical impact credit on consumption inequality remains ambiguous. We use a 2-year panel dataset collected in Daklak, province Central Highlands Vietnam, investigate differences access its household between ethnic groups. Our results show that impacts majority migrant minority groups are insignificant. from indigenous group face more disadvantages accessing formal rely informal than those majority. They also higher collateral ratio amount loans they could lower. The minority, consequently causing significant increase findings call for assistance programs support as well enhance effectiveness these loans.
