摘要: Mastectomy is a surgical choice for breast cancer, yet reconstruction underused in women older than age 60 years. Because of paucity information examining cancer the elderly, we sought to review our experience. By retrospective chart review, evaluated 89 years having mastectomy and from January 1998 June 2008. Mean patient was 65 (range, 74 years). The majority (41%) had Stage 1 disease or 2 (30%). Ductal carcinoma situ comprised 25 per cent 3 totaled cent. ipsilateral tumor recurrence after radiation therapy lumpectomy 11 Most underwent immediate (89%). Reconstructive techniques included two-stage implant (58%), transverse rectus abdominus musculocutaneous (TRAM) flap (10%), latissimus dorsi with (2%), deep inferior epigastric perforator (1%). Complications 12 infection rate, removal two expanders resulting exposure, one TRAM failure, required debriding. Four patients undergoing tissue expander being removed. One local skin treated resection. Two have died metastatic disease. Age should not be contraindication elderly women.
