摘要: Poor quality source water and poorly treated reused wastewater may result in poor drinking that has a higher potential to form biofilms. A biofilm is group of microorganisms which adhere surface. We investigated growth the distribution systems Mafikeng area, North- West Province South Africa. Analysis was conducted determine presence faecal coliforms, total Pseudomonas spp. Aeromonas Biofilms were grown on device contained copper galvanised steel coupons. mini tap filter – point-of-use treatment can be used at single faucet also collect samples. Scanning electron microscopy demonstrated multi-species biofilms developed all coupons as well filters. Galvanised carbon filters had highest density biofilm. Total coliforms isolated from raw only. The susceptibility selected isolates tested against 11 antibiotics clinical interest. most prevalent antibiotic resistance phenotype observed KF-AP-C-E-OT-K-TM-A. virulence genes determined using polymerase chain reaction. These results indicate bacteria present have ability colonise reservoir for opportunistic including species.
