摘要: Everyday conversation is both an auditory and a visual phenomenon. While speech information enhances comprehension for the listener, evidence suggests that ability to benefit from this improves with development. A number of brain regions have been implicated in audiovisual comprehension, but extent which neurobiological substrate child compares adult unknown. In particular, developmental differences network could manifest through incorporation additional regions, or different patterns effective connectivity. present study we used functional magnetic resonance imaging structural equation modeling (SEM) characterize changes interactions comprehension. The response was recorded while children 8- 11-years-old adults passively listened stories under (AV) auditory-only (A) conditions. Results showed adults, AV activated same fronto-temporo-parietal known their contribution production perception. However, SEM analysis revealed age-related among these regions. influence posterior inferior frontal gyrus/ventral premotor cortex on supramarginal gyrus differed across age groups during AV, not speech. This pathway might be important relating motor sensory by listener identify sounds. Further, its development reflect mechanisms relate articulatory representations experience producing perceiving
