摘要: Newly developed tissue clearing techniques can be used to render intact tissues transparent. When combined with fluorescent labeling technologies and optical sectioning microscopy, this allows visualization of fine structure in three dimensions. Gene-transfection have proved very useful visualizing cellular structures animal models, but they are not applicable human brain tissue. Here, we discuss the characteristics an ideal chemical probe for use other cleared tissues, offer a comprehensive overview currently available probes. We describe their working principles compare performance goal simplifying selection neuropathologists stimulating development by chemists. propose several approaches innovative methods which, when clearing, potential revolutionize how study function brain.
