摘要: The UK has one of the highest rates self harm (SH) in Europe, and almost four times more people die by suicide than road traffic collisions. Emergency ambulance paramedics are often first health professionals involved care who have self-harmed, yet little is known about provided or issues raised these encounters. aim this study to explore paramedics' perceptions experiences caring for SH, inform education policy. Semi structured interviews were conducted with paramedics, themes generated constant comparison coding. This paper reports two emerging themes: Firstly, professional, legal, clinical ethical tensions, linked limited decision support, referral options education. second theme relationships police, revealed practices surreptitious strategies related detention, aimed at overcoming complexities care. In absence tailored education, guidance support self-harm care, 'ways means' evolved which may negatively influence challenge legal frameworks. There an urgent need include evidence from revised educational materials working prehospital emergency setting.
