摘要: Shortly after Hench et al. 1 discovered the remarkably beneficial effects cortisone produced in patients with rheumatoid arthritis, and subsequently its analogs were introduced for treatment of asthma. The so dramatic that initially it was felt a miracle drug might have been discovered. However, soon became apparent disease process not cured but merely modified. Furthermore, as experience use corticosteroids extended, an alarming array adverse evident. As result, even today, 35 years discovery corticosteroids, prolonged systemic corticosteroid therapy asthma remains controversial often is regarded inappropriate. Nevertheless, major advances made our understanding their physiologic properties. In addition, considerable progress has development new compounds methods minimizing effects. this article I plan to review only some these also present my views on accepted general therapeutic principles, well issues surrounding management
