摘要: The core of the Shapley supercluster (A3556, A3558, SC1327-312, SC1329-313, and A3562) is an ideal region in which to study effects cluster mergers on activity individual galaxies. This paper presents most comprehensive radio continuum investigation region, relying a 63-pointing mosaic obtained with Very Large Array yielding areal coverage nearly 7 square degrees. provides typical sensitivity about 80 uJy at resolution 16", enabling detection galaxies star formation rates as low 1 solar mass per year. data are complemented by optical imaging B R, producing catalog 210 radio-detected m_R <= 17.36 (M_R -19). At least 104 these members basis public velocity measurements. Across entire supercluster, there appears be significant deficit intermediate magnitudes between -21 -22). offset somewhat increase frequency brighter less than -22) host sources. More dramatic highly probability for fainter -20 -21) vicinity A3562 SC1329-313 associated emission. sources strongly suggest that active powered formation. In conjunction recent X-ray analysis, this interpreted young starbursts related merger rest supercluster.
