摘要: Abstract This paper addresses the technological readiness of counter-current chromatography (CCC) instruments to become platform technology for pharmaceutical industry. It charts development prototype since its inception in 1966, through conceptual improvements 1980s that led higher speed separations hours as opposed days. then describes engineering have high performance with potential scale-up process scale manufacturing products industry separation times minutes rather than hours. A new UK Technology Strategy Board value £1.5m research programme take CCC level 8 (i.e. continuous 24 × 7 operation by industry) is introduced. Four case studies are given examples successes from expanding applications portfolio, which mainly confidential. Finally, hurdles uptake highlighted and following solutions given: rapid method development, automation, processing instrument reliability robustness. The future challenge community will be address these needs urgently if it deserves be.
