Development and government policies of the shrimp farming industry in Thailand in relation to mangrove ecosystems

摘要: Abstract Intensive shrimp farming arrived in Thailand during the 1980s and developed virtually unregulated until 1987. Subsidised by government, it quickly became an important export industry has been world's largest producer of tiger since 1991. However, development over last 20 years relation to its use mangrove ecosystems is example sequential exploitation natural resources witnessed through shift farm from one region another. This caused widespread degradation ecosystems, benefits may be less than perceived as a result subsidies environmental social impacts. study follows 1940s 1997 studies national legislation associated government policy examples driving forces behind this development. From our findings appears that not followed same pace industry, neither temporally, nor content implementation, contradictory policies have arisen.
